Reno started with Mr K!

ๅผ€ๅทฅๅ•ฆ!
 Starting of our renovation!

Wall hacking! MBR, Kitchen entrance, Bedroom 3 and electrical box. Almost everywhere that is hack-able we hack it down!

Finding a slot to meet up with Mr K is already a challenge and finding a slot with BB and him make it almost impossible. Busy Men is hard to date! haha...alright since im the most "free" one i shall not complain..finally i get him to meet k on 6 Mar (friday) to talk about our electrical points and final layout. Mr K chop chop wrote down all the points on the wall and the next following monday he told me all the electrical work is completed. How fast! Can't wait to see my tiles...

9 Mar - Installation and relocation of electrical & Data points (Forgot to inform k to add in one more point at my alternate dining wall but K says he will add in for me. Phew~)

13 Mar - Main door cut to align with overlay floor & Tiles in (K called to inform me the tiles will be quite uneven due to the laying pattern we decided >.< I am crossing my fingers now, hopefully it's not that bad)

20 Mar - The kitchen and living room floor has been done and cover with protection today! I would say is still acceptable. Thanks to Mr K experience tiler who try his best to fit in one by one for us. We understood that it won't be 100% even however we got the look that we want and we are really happy =)

Design our hse layout

what should I choose?

MBR Layout 1: L shape wardrobe
Pros: Less clutter , more spacious with open area to walk ard the room
Cons: Does not provide a walk-in-wardrobe feel and space is not fully utilize

MBR Layout 2 : U-shape Walk-In-Wardrobe
Pros: Better walk flow without having to close the curtain while changing.
Create an enclosed walk-in-wardrobe and working corner which fully utilize the entire room.
A full height ceiling see thru glass wall will build in between as a divider, at the same time allow the nature daylight shine into the dressing area.
Cons: Lesser walking space ard the room , might look too clutter?

As for the kitchen layout, I'm sure we have change more than 20+ times just to fit in the fengshui element (stove not facing or align to sink/fridge etc) , correct work flow (triangle theory) , functionality (bigger prep table) and aesthetically must be looking good. How difficult to have everything we want! Hdb floor plan is pretty small & standard. We just gotta make it work ard the space .. i guess at the end of the day we have to decide whatever fit the best for our kitchen...BB aka my 'ID' has been trying to work with me to create the dream kitchen of mine . Hopefully it will turn up well after all the hair picking session n afterall majority of the renovation fee goes to this kitchen.. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™

Key collection @ Tiong Bahru View and ID/Contractor search

YES! After years and years of waiting...The day has finally come! =)
Key collected to our dream estate @ Tiong Bahru View!~*~*~*

We have started our reno journey since Sep 2014 and as a typical singaporean couple, we started to look ard by visiting some of the reno show room, attended expo reno fair, meeting different IDs and Contractors, google pros and cons about different types of tiles, reading other ppl experience in reno blogs, pin-ing interesting photos from Pinterest etc etc..I'm super glad that we have finally reached the stage of starting our renovation this month in Mar and it's with our fav contractor - The legendary Mr K from H2O Interior Design that we got to know from reno blog! =)

Since i have started this blog, i would like to take this chance to thank some of the IDs and contractor that i met during my search...most of them are equally good and competent. They have been very nice and helpful during our discussion...If only, i could get everyone to do different part of my house..tsk tsk

Angelyn Wong from Rezt & Relax - I have recommended her to all my friends who ask me about reno's contact. A very sweet & friendly female ID with good attitude, enthusiasm, helpful and she will try her best to listen and understand what you need. We click really well but sad to say that we knew we could not afford after seeing few rounds of quotation even though she is able to give us a goodwill discount to reduce our cost. I think i would have go with her if she is a freelance ID without GST charges..haa..She is definitely the right person to go to especially if you are looking for a female id..

Eric from 80s studios - Another knowledgeable ID who went through the brain-storming session with us on our layout and selections of material. Moreover, they did a good job at my BFF house so workmanship is tested and proven. We were surprise that his quotation is actually not too far away from my contractor! However, our layout and design were not firm during that time, BB is busy travelling and there were just too many changes along the way until we came to realize we actually need an experience contractor rather than an ID since we already drawn out our own floor plan and design.

Lewis from ZL Construction - This contact was found by BB as they have renovated some of the guitar shops that he has been to and was pretty impressed by their workmanship. It's actually a contractor company that provide free 3d drawing and Lewis is the senior designer. Met up with Lewis twice and every discussion ended with good feelings. Due to certain factors, I would say ๆœ‰็ทฃ็„กไปฝ. Eventually we decided to go with K! =)

Mr. K from H2O Interior Design - Met him twice at his office and once on site at TBV, we have no problem communicating with him on our ideas and design which he just seems to get it right from the very beginning. He has an eye for detail and taste in design as a contractor. At times, he will tell us the layout won't look nice and warned us about the downside by selecting certain materials.
After all he has done so many similar projects before and we believe things cant go wrong with the right person! hehe..Not to mention that he has help me out of goodwill to apply for hdb permit twice due to the change of cement screed rules, install air-con trunking and hacking wall before collecting any single cents from us (even though we are ready to pay him anytime). Up to that point, he has never mentioned abt $..Steady la..do work and talk about money later..afterall it's all about trust =)
